Rock RMS Lead Developer

The Rock RMS Lead Developer manages, maintains and develops Rock RMS, the ChMS (Church Management System) used at Sun Valley Community Church. This position oversees two part-time data analysts, benefits from a generous development retainer with a leading Rock RMS 3rd-party developer, and works directly with the Lead Director of Digital Strategies. The Data Insights Team is responsible to keep the Sun Valley Community Church's instance of Rock RMS reliable, efficient, and effective in meeting the needs of the ministries and guests.  In all actions, they reflect the Sun Valley Community Church (SVCC) team leadership distinctives.  


  • Become a subject matter expert in Rock RMS.
  • Help oversee the usage and application of Rock RMS to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Maintain, develop and implement various features of Rock RMS across Sun Valley Community Church.
  • Help implement solutions using data views, workflows, reports and other available tools in Rock RMS.
  • Manage technical projects in Asana, including communication with ministries and prioritizing projects 
  • Set and enforce data management policies and procedures.
  • Lead the other data analysts to help them grow and develop their Rock RMS skillset.
  • Manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion, displaying a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and dependability.


  • 3-5 years experience in database management, church management systems, and/or experience with Rock RMS. 
  • Experience with project management, turning problems from non-technical users into technical solutions
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Loves solving complex problems with simple elegant solutions.
  • Self-motivated and always looking to sharpen your skills
  • Gets excited thinking about how data can ultimately lead more people to meet, know and follow Jesus


  • Experience building workflows and reports.
  • Experience working at a church or non-profit, and have a huge heart for ministry.
  • Experience working with and writing SQL scripts.
  • Familiar with front-end development using CSS, Less, jQuery and Bootstrap.
  • Experience with Lava or Shopify’s Liquid templating language.
